Suminagashi

This is the name given to Japanese art of paper or ink floating water, marbled paper, ... which originated in China and Japan between 800 and 1100. As a child, looked at the roles of water and wonder how it was possible to do that. And not so young, when I knew what was the procedure, I was literally speechless, could not believe, for simplicity of the technique and yet the complexity of the result. Even today, when I see one of these marvels made with real expertise, I keep nodding and thinking, ... incredible.

The fact is that yesterday, at last, .. I made my first piece of paper with water, and the outcome is far from the real wonders that can be found in some old printers, but I feel like a child opens a toy has always longed.

Use the following colors: english red, napples yellow reddish and compound green. There are areas which when enlarged, appear images of the surface of the earth ..

Ordesa colours

A few weeks ago I finished this oil. It is an interpretation of a scene I witnessed in one of many trips to Valle de Ordesa, on the Pyrenees. The autumn leaves, humid and heavy air in the afternoon that reduced everything distant to blue and purple colours, and a female woodpecker. In a month, as every autumn, the valley will stain colors like this in a show that is unique.

"Ordesa colours". Oil on board. 65 x 34 cm.

This work will be exhibit with several new that I'm working on the next edition of the International Bird of the strait Fair from 24th to 26th of this month in Tarifa (Cádiz).

Sunset song

A few days ago I finished this oil. I witnessed this backlighting one afternoon last May in an area of Sierra Morena, in the Parque Natural Sierra Norte de Sevilla and I tried to show in this painting. A stone wall, the lush vegetation that has given us this spring, flowers and a cornbunting singing late in the afternoon, so I called Sunset song. It is both an homage to that magic hour when the day is more relaxed, and the trend is slowly and peacefully, those hours that so many good times have given me.

Sunset song. Oil on canvas. 60 x 50 cm.
